The Cats are back in the Club to lay down a bracket before inviting members
from the audience to join them for the jam. Back line and drum kit provided;
bring your own instrument. Only rule is "it has to be Blues!"
THURS 6 OCT - DOUBLE BILL
HARPOON plus MOJO SOULAnother stella evening in The Club with Brisbane band Harpoon featuring Mat Stevenson on lead guitar and Phil Hoffman on bass, together with Barry 'Little Goose' Harvey of Chain fame on drums, with dynamite front man Shaun (Junior) Hickey who delivers strong vocals and hard edged harp out front.
This is the spot in Australian Blues scene where hard edged rock/blues meets funk in the one performance. Be entertained with tight renditions of material you never thought you'd see live again! These guys rocked the Sunshine Coast Blues Festival audience and will no doubt rock the Club again!
Moj o Soul is a great local outfit featuring Peter Wells with his mates in a blues only evening at the Club. Expect heavy grooves and wild guitar held down by another solid rhythm section. Great Blues at every level!
THURS 13 OCT -- DOUBLE BILL
BLIND DOG plus THE BIG EASY
Blind Dog up on the Coast cooking up the Blues as only Donny can - wicked arch top guitar with a mastery that has its own brand. Blind Dog Donny is the rhythm king by any standard and never fails to pull in a solid performance.
The Big Easy will be on hand to rage the Club out yet again with another evening of classic New Orleans grooves and feels, intermingled with some brilliant original Queensland Blues. Expect hard rocking guitar from Gerard O'Brien, some hot right hand from Al on the keys; solid bottom end from Tad Graham on bass and wicked drumming from Bob Ward. Another top evening of Blues in the Club.
THURS 20 OCT -- DOUBLE BILL
DOC SPAN plus OWEN GRAY'S MONKEY PUZZLE
Doc Span is the legendary expatriate harp player extraordinaire that has
been delivering his own style of Blues across the Nation for many years. His
performances are highly charged; his material provides a broad range of feels
and grooves while his technique as a harmonica player is utterly astounding.
This particular evening he will be backed by Monkey Puzzle featuring Owen
Gray on keyboards with Ian Harvey on double bass and master drummer Matty Perrin.
These guys deliver funk with jump; stew Blues with attitude and grooves that
fuse. The combination featuring Doc Span will be a very exciting night for
Blues fans!
